Celebrations at RUSA headquarters turned sour over the weekend after an astute bicycle and art historian noticed inconsistencies in what was thought to be the recovered stolen hand drawn and autographed copy of Jan Heine’s constructeur built Rene Herse.
The ‘recovered’ drawing turned out to be a hand drawn and autographed copy of Jan Heine’s 1972 Singer. The individual who ‘recovered’ the drawing was out of the country during the celebrations.
The spoiler, who refused to be identified, was incredulous. “What’s the big deal? All I said was that isn’t an Herse, it is clearly a Singer cycle, probably an early 70’s version and everyone starts crying. I mean, the drawing really just looks like some botched up lunchtime playing around with Microsoft Paint!”
Devastated RUSA staff was reeling, first the theft, and now this, a cruel hoax and were unable to comment.
Our thoughts, hopes, and prayers reach out to the RUSA staff.
